Spring is here and I can’t believe I’m celebrating my first blogging anniversary already!
Here are some of my blogging highlights from the past year:
On a wind swept March morning we climbed aboard the Cutty Sark to learn about her fascinating sea faring history as a super fast tea clipper.
In April we had more luck hunting for Easter eggs than ghosts at haunted Ham House, Richmond.
In May we celebrated the 90th anniversary of Wembley Stadium and were able to share the experience with a giveaway of two pairs of family tickets for my readers.
On a subject very dear to my heart, gardening, it was a great pleasure visiting and writing about the Chelsea Flower Show. I was astonished to see what RHS Chelsea had on offer to inspire children in its centenary year. And I was completely blown away by my readers enthusiastic response to my question about what you garden with your children.
We spent a few days in breathtaking Scotland visiting Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness. We went on our own family hunt for ‘Nessie’ the Loch Ness Monster, and we came very close to finding him!
In the summer we had an Ape-solutely thrilling tree top adventure! It was amazing watching the kids take responsibility for their own safety and seeing their own clever problem solving as well as the exhilaration of the zip wires.
We took a walk on the wild side at Whipsnade Zoo in their special summer’s night late opening, the ‘Big Night Out’. This event was a unique opportunity to see the animals and their keepers for a series of talks, feeds and greets after normal opening hours. And it was a great reason for everyone to stay up late!
As part of our summer ‘staycation’ we explored beautiful beaches in Bournemouth, had some maritime fun in Plymouth, and climbed aboard seven ship museums. Making full use of our National Trust family pass, we ticked off many of the 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ . I paid tribute to our NT days out in rhyme.
In October we had an unforgettable family trip to Fez and Marrakesh. Whilst back at home we had the most fantastically frightening Halloween night walk through Burghley House and a spooky stay in the quirky William Cecil Hotel in Stamford.
Rounding the year off, I blogged about our favourite winter destination, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, one of the most family friendly places – our highlight was most definitely snorkelling in the Red Sea.
This month, with spring in the air, we’re dreaming of more places to discover. I hope you revisit the TwoAdultTwoChildren.com website for some inspiration for family outings and I look forward to reading your comments.
Wishing you happy family experiences!
